Dear All, I am sorry for posting HW 3 under this link, but I thought it could be nice to get the thread started. I planted an avocado seed in a small pot some days ago. I hope it will become a tree and I am able to transport the sapling to a bigger place. Thank you.
Sorry for my delay, but I started the course a little bit later.
Since im a boy, I have a really strained relationship to my step father. A lot has changed in our relationship ever since I started to deal with the teachings of Shakyamuni and the great Indian scholars. Today I have praised him for his great work and his craftsmanship. I really felt the tense of my ego, but after giving the praise the connection between us has been strengthened distinctly in the moments afterwards. And it appeared a liberating effect as mentioned by Nadine.
Thank you really much Rinpoche & Rebecca for giving us this huge opportunity.
I must apologise, for answering this very late.
Apart from that here is what I'd like to contribute.
Around 40 students graduated this year. Students I had the honour teaching geography for 6 entire years. I saw them grow from 11 year old kids to 18 year old young adults. Some of them you know well, but some are often quiet or shy. So there is not always the chance to talk with them and getting to know them is a slow process.
The last geography lesson I took the time to give them all one compliment and put the emphasis on the biggest qualities they carry within themselves. For each student I took the time to add how that…
This weekend I was in Yeunten Ling. Since there was a Karling Shidro ritual there were a lot of people, some of them I sometimes find their behaviour a bit hypocritical. This time I tried to look at the good things they do and their positive qualities, instead of the negative. I tried to give compliments and praise them, as much as I sincerely could. It resulted in having some nice conversations and made me reevaluate the assumptions I had about some of them.
Since I heard the homework instructions, I have been trying to slowly say only positive things about this one "difficult" person, and am refraining from saying anything that may appear to be less than positive. Thank you.
